What is forest health?
Forest health includes the biology and ecology of living things that affect, and are effected by, trees. It also includes non-living factors like drought, floods, and climate change. In the CU Forest Health lab, we study anything that has the potential to impact the ecological and economic health of forests in the Southeast and beyond.

Ecology of Forest Pests
Over a third of the United States is covered by forest, making it the fourth most forested country in the world. These forests are used by people and wildlife for timber, recreation, leisure, and much more. The complex history of human interaction with forests has lead to forest health issues, invasive species introductions, and unique ways to deal with these problems. At the CU Forest Health Lab we study these interactions as well as ecologically sound ways to manage and mitigate them. If you are interested in joining the lab please see the 'People' page.
